ML Khattar steps down from the CM position in Haryana, Nayab Singh Saini is scheduled to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Haryana
Following a rift over Lok Sabha seat-sharing, Manohar Lal Khattar resigned as Haryana’s Chief Minister, ending the BJP’s coalition with Dushyant Chautala’s JJP.
In
the 90-seat Haryana Assembly, the BJP holds 41 seats, the Congress has 30, and
the JJP comprises 10. There are seven Independents, and one seat each belongs
to the INLD and the HLP. Following a rift over Lok Sabha seat-sharing, Manohar
Lal Khattar resigned as Haryana’s Chief Minister, ending the BJP’s coalition
with Dushyant Chautala’s JJP. The disagreement arose because the JJP sought to
contest two Lok Sabha seats, specifically Hisar and Bhiwani, while the BJP
aimed to contest all 10 seats. Additionally, six Independent MLAs have offered
support to the BJP, and reports from India Today indicate that 4-5 JJP MLAs
might be in communication with the BJP.
Nayab
Singh Saini is scheduled to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Haryana at 5
pm.
Nayab
Singh Saini, the BJP state president and Kurukshetra MP, is poised to be
inaugurated as the Chief Minister of Haryana at 5 pm. This comes just after the
resignation of Manohar Lal Khattar and other BJP ministers in anticipation of a
Cabinet overhaul. It is anticipated that the newly formed Cabinet will not
include any members from the JJP.
